I’ve shot this set of /equi.libre/ in May, and since then I’m struggling to write this article and publish what I think is one of the best series for the /equi.libre/ project. As a photographer, I use imagery to convey my thoughts, my obsessions, and my guts feeling. It’s already hard enough to morph those ideas into images which are inherently open to interpretation, so trying to put words over that is a bit like chasing smoke.
Yes, she’s back: this is Metaux Lourds! I’m so thrilled to have shot again with her because I believe we share a lot of the same values. Marine and I met first for a shoot for /positive motion/ project - along with some beers and extras, but that’s another story - and since then, I was eager to collaborate again with her.
She’s a great person with a lot of deepness in the way she perceives life. She’s a strong woman, a feminist, an open-minded person and a lot more. All values I relate to, so I’m grateful she welcomed me for the /den/ and opened her intimacy to my camera.
A huge part of the emotional power that resides in /positive motion/ project is due to the very particular aestheticism conveyed by both the dance and the light & post production combo. Therefore having the opportunity to shoot with models who have special skills like being a professional dancer or,like Mimosa Pudica, a pole dance teacher is an amazing opportunity.
The beauty of working with models for creating art is how much different are the people you meet. I first met Noémie while working on /discloser/ set, a project where a model uses her body to express emotion and personality sides. Despite she's a young model, Noémie has strong opinions and ideas on how she is the owner of her own body, how she can or want to use it as a mean of expression for feminism.
Lors de la dernière séance avec Jeanne, Anouck s’est joint à nous pour assister au déroulement du projet. Apparemment l’expérience lui a plu puisqu’elle a elle-même tenté l’expérience une semaine plus tard.
Ces derniers temps je m’attache beaucoup à perserver sur des projets pour lesquels j’ai beaucoup d’affinité. /positive motion/ en est un, /discloser/ fait aussi partie de ceux là.
C’est Jeanne qui se prête aujourd’hui à l’exercice. Cette séance fut pour une fois précédée d’une longue discussion dans un bar, avec son amie Anouck qui assistera aussi à la séance. Echanger longuement sur le projet en amont a été une expérience très enrichissante permettant de rentrer plus vite dans le projet une fois en studio, d’expliquer des facettes de sa personnalité avant de le faire en posant.
Cela fait un petit moment maintenant que j’essaie de travailler sur des projets de shoot en situation. Je suis passé par beaucoup d’étapes comme le montre la page projet dédiée à /Persona/, et j’avoue tatonner encore.
Je continue de rattraper mon retard, avec Geneviève, qui s’est prêté pour la première fois à l’exercice très difficile de /positive motion/
Retour sur une séance qui date du mois d’avril, avec Louise qu’on a pu voir dans /discloser/, et qui profite de son talent en expression théatrale et corporelle pour nous livrer sa version de Positive Motion.
J'inaugure aujourd'hui un nouveau projet baptisé /discloser/. Le nom vient de la contraction de "di-" pour diptyque de de "-closer" pour le coté rapproché des plans utilisés dans ce projet.
